Thursday, April 29: I had a delightful Thursday

April 30, 2021 by Susanne Leave a Comment

But not enough time for blogging, sadly. I bought more books and all the groceries, had pasta for lunch:IMG 2520

And watched this concert with my husband in the evening (it was a live stream on Youtube):

Seems like you can only watch the video on YouTube directly, so embedding it here is a little pointless…

I went to bed too late after having a little too much beer. Today is Friday which means cleaning, teaching and then the weekend.

Wednesday, April 28: 26th wedding anniversary

April 29, 2021 by Susanne Leave a Comment

Woke up and decided to read for just ten minutes. Guess what happened?

So no yoga again.

The boy went off to school almost on time but came back after 45 minutes because he could have stayed at home. The only lessons he needs to attend from now on are the ones dealing with what he needs to know for his exams. Which is why he went back to school an hour later. Yes, I still think that choosing the nearest school was a great idea, by the way.

It was our weddings anniversary. Twenty-six years of being married and almost 27 of being together. After a nice conversation at breakfast we went our merry ways, doing chores, my husband started working in the garden and I went for my walk/run:

Very warm and still too dry.

I went back home and got Asian takeout:

They changed the recipe for the noodles and I’m not sure I like it. They used to be brown and more fried. Weird. Still, good food in nice company. The boy had sushi and my husband duck.

My first student had rescheduled so I had a little more time than usual but I needed all of it so I could finally take a shower. Started teaching with wet hair. The next student didn’t show at first but then we found that their wifi connection was so bad that we couldn’t get the video working so we rescheduled for today.

The rest of the afternoon went very well.

After my last student I looked forward to having a glass of champagne with my family when the boy stampeded down the stairs saying, „I only woke up right now, I need to get to the woods for my art project!“ So my husband and I had our champagne without him. I had dinner, then the boy returned, he had dinner, I started this post and started watching Netflix too late without doing the dishes.

Today there will be the walk to the supermarket, quite a bit of teaching with those additional two students and in the evening we’ll watch a live concert on YouTube. I’m looking forward to doing something with my husband even if it’s just sitting on the couch.

Tuesday, April 27: Spätzle and fun research

April 28, 2021 by Susanne Leave a Comment

I woke up too late to do yoga again. Had breakfast, woke the boy and helped him get to school on time. All the while I read „Aftermath“ in short bursts.

My husband and I talked a bit, then I helped him with an online order, did the dishes and went off to the health food store. Came back, put the groceries away and started making spaetzle. Ordered a new hand mixer because the old one that we inherited from my husband’s grandmother is getting way too hot these days and some of the plastic is peeling.

We had lunch without the boy because he ate upstairs with his grandmother:

I didn’t eat all of that, it was just too much.

No dishes but a short break and then teaching. One student canceled and another didn’t show, after ten minutes of trying to call them on Skype I gave up. In that time off I started researching book covers for paranormal cozy mystery. At least now I know what I don’t want.

After teaching I ate a bag of potato chips and had a beer in front of TV, then did the dishes, some yoga and went to bed.

Today is our 26th wedding anniversary. There will be takeout for lunch, lots of teaching and maybe some champagne and a toast tonight.

Monday, April 26: Just a regular Monday

April 27, 2021 by Susanne Leave a Comment

I slept in until 6.30 so no yoga and such. Breakfast with the boy, then breakfast with my husband, dishes that were quick and easy to do because the boy asked me the night before if he should help me do them (I’m very grateful for that).

When I re-folded the crochet blankets on the sofa I saw that there is mold behind the sofa. For now I just moved it away from the wall again. Not good.

I went for my walk/run and it was fun:

Posting these pictures here three times a week makes me feel as if I should buy a new jacket or two because I always wear the same when running.

Then I practiced Chinese and took a shower and my husband made lunch:

IMG 2514

It was a bit too al dente but very good. It is very cute how my husband is throwing himself into cooking at the moment. I got him the „Salt,Fat, Acid, Heat“ book for his birthday and he is slowly making his way through it. Not cooking all the recipes but mostly thinking about cooking. And then going through his fat Italian cookbook and marking recipes to cook next.

Then there was teaching with a break in between and a live stream thing and then I started writing this post. Watched two episodes of „The Devil Punisher“, and went to bed way too late again.

Today there will be grocery shopping and teaching and reading. I started reading novels on my phone every time I want to check Twitter or Instagram and that is actually really good.

My life does feel a bit boring at the moment, I don’t write, I don’t sew, I don’t really do anything. But. Tomorrow there will be takeout! And maybe champagne! And on Thursday we’re watching the live stream of an improvisation concert on YouTube!

I take my excitement where I can get it these days.

Sunday, April 25: Sunday? What Sunday?

April 26, 2021 by Susanne Leave a Comment

Yeah, that’s what happens when I don’t sleep enough.

On the plus side there were quite a few conversations with my husband and I almost finished reading „Undercover“ by Eliot Grayson which I really liked. Called my mother on the phone, talked with the boy, helped to make pizza for lunch, sat outside in the afternoon to read, spent a lot of time playing a silly game on my iPad, watched an episode of ‚Torchwood‘ with the boy and one of ‚The Devil’s Punisher‘ alone and that was mostly it.

I did no weekly review, no yoga, no planning, no nothing.

Here is a picture of pizza:

IMG 2511

And here’s to a new week.

Today there will be walking/running, teaching and a thing on Crowdcast in the evening.

Saturday, April 24: Afternoon? What afternoon?

April 25, 2021 by Susanne Leave a Comment

The morning went rather well, including yoga, meditation and running:

IMG 2507

We managed to get the boy out the door with all his running gear and some snacks by eight. I only had to wake him up twice, remind him about the things he would need, make him sandwiches and find a water bottle because his had gone missing.

My husband made lunch rather late and it was nice enough to sit outside:

IMG 2510

After lunch I spent an hour talking with my husband, folding laundry and hanging up another load. After that I did not have any motivation left for doing dishes.

So that’s when I got derailed. First I wanted to take a break, then I didn’t know where to start, went outside to read, got interrupted every ten minutes by my husband who was toiling away in the yard preparing for planting, ate dinner while my husband was making fried potatoes for the boy, started watching a show until the boy came back home, all tired and happy and surprisingly not hungry because he and his friend had bought snacks on the way. (Again, I want to emphasize that both the boy and his friend got PCR tests on Friday and both were negative.)

The boy didn’t tell me much (as usual, no idea how offspring of mine and my husband can be someone who never talks about their experiences and feelings. Odd. He has always been this way. Much more interested in talking about cool facts and things than people, feelings and what happened.

He fell asleep while we watched an okay episode of ‚Enterprise‘, then I stayed sitting right there and watched one episode of ‚the Devil Punisher‘ after the other until midnight. Oops.

Today there will be some housework, phone call with my mother, and all the admin. While being completely sleep deprived. That will be fun.
