I did not wake up all that early because I went to bed too late yet again. Bad habit that I’m totally determined to break. Tonight. For sure.
I got up, decided to skip yoga and everything and have breakfast in peace all by myself:
I got emails and text messages and a really wonderful sewing book („Gertie sews Jiffy Dresses“ from my sister) and my husband showed up with clippings from my poor, neglected hibiscus and promised me to either nurse the thing back to health, or regrow from the clippings or buy a new one.
The boy showed up on time and gave me a hand drawn card that is really pretty.
I did not do the dishes but instead went walking/running:
It was hot and it turns out that eating lots of cake for breakfast does not make for quick feet. This is what 53 looks like while running in the heat:
I came home, my husband was washing up and grumbling because I was a little late, I took a shower, did not dress in my new dress because it isn’t finished yet and off we went to the Greek restaurant. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of my food, sorry. I did take a picture of myself, though, and of the boy and my husband. I won’t show you those, just of me after taking a shower.
No idea what’s going on with my left eye there, I think it was just way too sunny. Should have put my sunglasses on.
In the afternoon I didn’t do much and I did it on purpose. I finished reading „Peace Talks“ and hung out in the hammock, something I never do. I startled my husband when I went outside while he was watering all the veggies:
I did a bit of research on how to sew buttonholes. I’m still not sure if I want to sew those by hand or by machine.
We opened a bottle of champagne before dinner:
(Why yes, the house is rather messy, I already noticed.)
And then the boy and I watched two episodes of „Miss Fisher while eating potato chips and ice cream.
So, I’m calling this a rather good birthday if a little low-key. I definitely ate more than enough and it was all delicious. And then I even managed to go to bed at a reasonable time.
Today there will be the walk to the health food store, the plumber cleaning the floor heating in the annex, and then the teaching of all the students. I’m really hoping that the cleaning and the teaching will happen one after the other and not at the same time but one never knows. Oh, and I will do the benchmark test for the Nerd Fitness chin-up challenge.
