I really wished for some nice and bright new week energy but there wasn’t much to be had.
I had gone to bed almost on time and slept well but didn’t feel all that energized. I woke the boy up as soon as I was halfway conscious myself, wrote morning pages and hit yet another slump. So no writing, no yoga and no meditation.
I ate breakfast while my husband was busy with the wood stove and then we talked a bit. Very nice conversation about the frustration of being in a slump. Sigh.
The good thing was that I then opened the manuscript and worked on it for half an hour. Another day where I had been sure there would be no words and when I sat in front of the open manuscript and kept asking myself, „Can you write the next sentence?“ somehow new words appeared from the ether.
I took care of some financial stuff, was sure I would need to make new deodorant but found two untouched jars in the cupboard and let half my brain mull all kinds of things over. I was also completely unsure about the number of students I would have to teach that day so I decided to be proactive for a change and messaged two students to see if they were planning to show.
I knitted a bit, did my internet rounds and the dishes and then went out to run and walk in the rain. My extremely not high motivation meant that I was walking a lot more than I was supposed to but at least I was out in nature, moving and listening to music.
Meanwhile my husband was stressed out from cooking again. The boy came back home while I was still doing dishes and went straight back to bed. Lunch was very tasty:
The kidney beans had been left over a couple of days before and needed to be eaten. The combination tasted better than expected.
I took a short break, then a shower and finally cut my toenails, phew.
I ended up only teaching half as many students as expected, I had one reschedule and two cancelations. I did use the extra time to educate myself about keywords and categories (again) and started doing research. I also found that I still had a report on Urban Fantasy from two years back, all kinds of data about covers, categories, price points and ranking in the Amazon store. It was fascinating, overwhelming, and a bit outdated. But I don’t want to spend more money on this.
Speaking of spending money, I also received a package with two pairs of exercise gloves and some sheet music. I’ll send one pair of gloves back because it isn’t really doing what I need but the other pair looks very promising. I’ll try them out for yoga and pushups over the next few days. They should cushion the palms of my hands and help with pain.
Then it was time to eat dinner (and half a bar of chocolate, ahem), read a bit, re-download all the silly iPad games (dumb idea, I know), start writing this post, do Duolingo and go to bed with a cup of tea.
Less leisure today but who knows, maybe that’ll do me good.
