And I keep forgetting that that is a bit exhausting.
I had gone to bed on time for once, woke up at the usual time and did my complete morning routine. Including opening the manuscript and doing yoga.
My husband and I had breakfast together and then we meandered into a long conversation about things on our schedule over the next weeks. Renovating the balcony (again), a nephew’s wedding, that kind of stuff. That took us a long time and we ended up starting late yet again.
I did the dishes and then it was time for my walk/run:
I’m pleased to say that I did fine without my asthma spray. The last time I hadn’t been sure.
I came back home and lunch was as good as ready:
More talking with husband, then I basically waited for 4 o’clock to come around. My husband had said he would clean the house after all but my plan had been to do the cleaning after lunch, so in the end I sat around waiting. I did wrestle cleaning duty back from him later but the harm was already done.
Then I waited some more for the boy to come downstairs because we were set to do bodyweight training at 4.
He came downstairs at ten past which would have been fine if I hadn’t planned to take a shower between training and my weekly Zoom call. But all went well, we did a quick round of 2 x 7 and finished in time for me to take my shower.
Weekly writer Zoom was shorter than usual which suited me fine. The boy had decided he didn’t have time for ‚Columbo‘ after all because he had to study for Monday’s exam, so my husband and I just saw a YouTube video about Rome. In Italian. Turns out watching stuff in Italian is hard for me. At least I did understand most of it with only Italian subtitles, so there was that.
Just as all three of us were in the kitchen foraging for dinner my cell phone rang, which never happens. It was my husband’s aunt, the one we’ll be visiting after Easter. My first thought was of dire emergency, of course, I didn’t even know she had my cell number but no. She wanted to talk about our visit because, as you probably know, men are always bad at organizational detail and my husband hadn’t told her exactly when we would be there, where we would be staying and she was worried about us finding places to eat.
I tried staying polite and calm but I knew for a fact that my husband only called her after we knew the dates exactly and he then asked her to find pen and paper to write it all down. Her memory has been a bit unreliable for a while. I had to scramble and pull out my iPad for all the details because I don’t have everything in my head as well.
I assured her that we would find places to eat lunch even though a lot of the restaurants around her are not open for lunch, or during the week. We’ll have a car and Kempten is nearby, and if all else fails we’ll have a kitchen at the apartment we’re staying at.
She told me that she had waited until dinnertime so that she wouldn’t disturb me while teaching and I told her (same as my husband did the last two times) that we don’t teach on Saturdays. At all.
So now my head is all thinking about the logistics of that visit. Fun! Though I’m sure we will a) find a place where we can buy lunch, and b) also find a place where we can buy groceries. Since we’re going by car we will probably also take some stuff for breakfast and dinner, bread, muesli, cheese, tea, coffee and such. Even if we just lived on water from Tuesday at noon until Thursday at noon we’d probably be fine. (I am not planning on not eating for 2 1/2 days but you know what I’m talking about.)
After that I watched more YouTube and the first episode of the C-drama ‚Filter‘. I’m not quite sure I’ll like it but I’ll watch some more.
Then I started writing this post, did Duolingo, finished reading the third ‚Knitting in the City‘ book by Penny Reid, did my for exercises and went to bed.
Today there will be the usual Sunday stuff, and who knows, maybe I’ll even plan the month already.
