I slept in until 8 which was a good thing since I had stayed up too late.
We had a lazy and slow morning, talking a lot, then I took a shower and helped my mother make lunch. We were a bit confused because the mashed potatoes tasted a bit bland and watery but in the end it turned out my mother had grabbed the expired oat milk from the fridge instead of the cow milk she had bought specifically for this meal and for a pudding she didn‘t get around making. Oops.
It was still good but could have been better. And while the milk had been expired for three months it still tasted fine:
I then ironed the t-shirt I had brought that looked rather crumpled and a little sad and put on makeup for the second time in two days. I really think I need a new look, I stopped wearing makeup in 2020 or so and now when I put on the colors and products I really liked 20 years ago they do look a bit dated. Funny that. (And later in the afternoon when I looked at my cousins I found that their makeup was similar to mine and realized again that fashion has changed and I might want to change with it, just a bit.)
Then we went to my aunt‘s place. She lives in assisted living and this was the first time I went to her place. She has a rather nice apartment that was already full to the brim with relatives. There was her, another sister of my mother, both of birthday aunts daughters with on husband and two of her grandchildren, plus a geriatric pug.
There were four cakes and champagne and we ate and drank a lot. It was all rather nice but a bit loud, especially since I got to sit next to the aunt that is hard of hearing despite her hearing aids. I did knit for an hour or so on the travel hat I brought.
We stayed until evening when I walked back to my mother‘s place, ate dinner, started to write this post, did Duolingo, started packing and went to bed. This was the view on my way back:
Today will be another day where I‘ll go from train to train to train until I hopefully arrive back home tonight.
