That’s what usually seems to happen. I went to bed on time, got 8 1/2 solid hours of sleep and then was shuffling around the house all day feeling extra tired and exhausted. My body probably entered rest mode.
I tried doing my morning routine a bit faster because I thought my husband had to leave the house before 9 but failed. When he still hadn’t shown up at 8.15 I went over to remind him of his dentist appointment and learned it was an hour later than I thought.
We got to talk a bit over breakfast but he had to leave soon after that which was probably a good thing because I myself had an appointment with the boy to work some on his costume.
We met (later than planned), talked through some more design choices and technical sewing things, and then I set the sewing machine up and showed him how to use it. And that made me realize something I know from my job and see every day, there are so many small movements and habits around doing things that you can’t really teach but need to develop over time. Like the way I hold both the thread and the piece of fabric in my left hand while starting the machine first with my right hand and then with my foot.
Like the way you hold the bobbin case when putting it in the machine to prevent the bobbin from falling out. How you navigate the position of it by feel. How threading the machine becomes just one fluid motion after a while. Well, not the actual threading of the needle on my old machine because I have to do that by hand and while my new eyes are great they don’t really work at close distances like that.
Anyway, he still has a long way to go but he did well, and with a bit of practice he’ll do fine.
We only had a little bit of time, though, because I still wanted to go walking/running:

I came back (a little late, of course), took a shower and had lunch:

I played some Genshin before teaching and then I taught quite a few students without a break until the evening. One student got a lecture about the second Viennese school on top of learning how to play D sus for „Nothing Else Matters“. Then I briefly talked to the boy and had a quick dinner before meeting with my writer friend for an online writing sprint.
Where I promptly wandered off, started doing unnecessary research and then started writing this post so I could at least get something done.
I*m so close to finishing this book. But close isn’t finished.
I did play some more Genshin, I did the dishes and played the ukulele a bit and then went to bed with a book.
And today there will be another busy day. Though I have to say I like the busy ones better than the slow ones. Well, up to a certain point.
