And I’m running out of time again, and yes, I realize it is only morning.
- I went to bed super early and slept well
- I woke up and did the morning routine up to the point where I sat down to meditate
- Saw that I had a voicemail on the landline
- From my mother-in-law who lives upstairs from us
- Saying that she wasn’t feeling well and wanted to go to the hospital
- I went upstairs while she called emergency services and stayed there until she was carted off in an ambulance
- The paramedics were clearly checking her for signs of stroke and heart attack but that wasn’t it
- Meanwhile my husband didn’t know why I went upstairs and was impatiently waiting for me to return because
- He had just killed an Asian tiger mosquito which can be dangerous and should be reported
- So I finally ate breakfast more than an hour late while researching tiger mosquitos
- For a moment there I thought I had to find a small box and mail the mosquito but it turns out you can also use an online form and send pictures
- I finally did the breakfast dishes
- Then changed my sheets and started to clean
- Ordered takeout in between because
- My husband was busy trimming the hedge and cutting up branches
- More cleaning
- I walked to the Chinese restaurant and picked up lunch
- It was very good:

- I messaged the boy and my brother-in-law to tell them about my mother-in-law
- Took a little break
- Started teaching
- First student was ten minutes early
- Second student hadn’t shown ten minutes into their lesson so I texted their mother who said they had forgotten because they were still in vacation mode but she’d send them over. We played for a total of 7 minutes
- I had a break that I had wanted to use for the planning course but by then I was so frazzled that I didn’t do anything useful
- The next student showed up looking very pale and stressed to tell me in person that she couldn’t take lessons anymore because her work obligations had reached a point where it was no longer feasible, plus, she had a new regular meeting on Friday afternoons
- In between I also texted the boy to ask him to clean the hedge cuttings away. Especially important because they were sitting outside on the sidewalk
- I only met my husband in passing but could see he was way more frazzled than me and making big strides with yard work
- I vacuumed both parts of the house while waiting for the boy
- We did bodyweight training
- Husband interrupted us to ask for help closing the can of construction foam
- I almost got foam on my pricy exercise gloves (the ones from the US, of course)
- Husband got foam all over his hands because there were supposed to be gloves with the foam but there weren’t
- We finished exercising
- The boy called my mother-in-law on the foam; she was in a different hospital from the one we thought she was and had only gotten an infusion, nothing more so far
- I ate dinner aka a bag of potato chips and finished reading a book only to turn around and start the next one
- I played some silly games
- I talked to my husband who was busy scraping dried foam from his hands
- I did Duolingo and started this post
- I gave the enormous pile of dirty dishes the side eye and went to bed
So the plan for today is to do everything I didn’t manage yesterday, of course.
