I slept well but not quite enough. Did most of my morning routine but didn’t open the manuscript again.
Husband and I had breakfast together and then got ready to leave the house for our annual trek to the Andechs monastery.
The train was a few minutes late which is just a regular occurrence at this point but of no consequence to us.
I’m using that one-hour hike, uphill all the way, as a once-a-year fitness test. Unlike in some past years I am fine when it starts going upwards, and still okay with talking most of the way but then there is the last part that gets rather steep and then there are the stairs:

They don’t look that steep from above but when you climb them after the other set of stairs after an hour of trudging uphill they can be intimidating. At that point of the day I also had to use my inhalator because there were people smoking somewhere and someone had a particular nasty perfume. But well, asthma attack avoided, yeah!
Lunch was nothing special, this is what we always get at the monastery beergarden, obatzda and pretzel for me, pork roast and potato salad for my husband.

I did not get that heavy dark beer that is the specialty there but instead opted for alcohol-free. I did take four sips of my husband’s beer and that alone made me feel a bit tipsy. Husband also broke with our tradition and only got a small dark beer and an alcohol-free one. And yes, that mug in the picture is a small one. Bavaria, you know.
I took a ton of pictures because a friend asked for some. We’ll see how many the blog lets me post, three is usually the limit. (And sorry for not doing alt text yet again, I am really very busy today.)
Anyway, here is a picture of me with my beer:

We stayed for about an hour, then walked back down the hill. It was all very enjoyable but after going up and back down again we did feel our legs. (And I’m still feeling them today, who would have thought I’d be so sore. Walking up and down hills does use the muscles differently from just walking straight.)
We made a short detour to the Ammersee, very idyllic but too cold to go swimming for us:

We then took the train back home, I took a break that stretched out over many hours, ahem, the boy did the dishes, I looked through the digital proof for my Ingram paperback, got my very first very nice review, had dinner, did Duolingo, started writing this post, took a shower, wrote in my bullet journal and went to bed.
And today I will take train in the other direction and get my earphone problem sorted, I hope.
