Going to bed earlier is really cool, heartily recommended.
I did the complete morning routine including writing a few new words. I also spent half my writing time doing research on Munich jazz musicians.
Husband and I had breakfast together somewhat late and I only had a bit of knitting time while we were talking because we had plans.
I did the dishes, brushed my teeth and then went out to the pharmacy and the health food store. The plan was to use the morning for errands since I didn’t go walking and running because we wanted to bike to the beer garden for lunch. Which we did.
When I unpacked the groceries everything smelled like soap and I was very suspicious of the actual piece of soap I had bought. I thought it was unscented. And it was. But somehow the bottle of laundry detergent I had bought had leaked and my backpack was very smelly and pretty wet. I just mopped the worst up with paper towels and hung it up outside to dry but it might be time for a new backpack. This one has seen better times, it’s starting to fray and the straps are in a state that the boy refuses to use it when grocery shopping.
The temperature while biking was not quite as hot as I had feared but it still hot enough, even though most of the way leads through the woods. There weren’t many people there, which was great. We got our usual beer garden food. I keep thinking I should change it up because the cheese is not that good but on the other hand this is appropriate beer garden food:

Under all the onions on the left is my obatzda and husband had chicken and potato salad. Oh, and we both got alcohol-free beer which was a first. Unfortunately, there is no alcohol-free beer on draft but, well, can’t have everything.
We biked for 40 minutes there and 40 minutes back and managed to get lost on our way back which has never happened before. My theory is that the bike path we followed through the woods has been patched in places. It used to be all red gravel but now there are places where they patched it with gray and we just went straight forward on and on and met the road in an unfamiliar place. We did have an idea of where we needed to go so it went all pretty smoothly but I have to say riding next to a road where cars can reach 100 km/h is not as nice as biking through the woods.
There were lots of people biking all over, most of them zooming past us on their e-bikes. I keep being surprised by their speed until I remember they have assistance.
We came back home with ample time before my husband’s first student and I took a generous break.
And then I got a message from the boy that he had passed last week’s exam. Hurray! My first thought was that we should open the bottle of champagne in the fridge but we didn’t. This was his third attempt, phew. There is one more test left, his bachelor’s thesis and defense and a couple of lab stuff but we’re all very relieved. This also means that he will have a few weeks off for once before the semester starts.
I watched some more of the cover design video but still haven’t finished it. To be fair, two hours is quite a lot.
Then there was dinner (more pretzel), talking with the boy, and then – just as I was trying to do all my evening stuff (including watching the second episode of „Immortal Ascension“) – the boy asked me to do a test Zoom call. His advisor wants to explain something to him over Zoom and he hasn’t done Zoom since the pandemic. Well, things did go well with that and I got to try some things out. I might change to a different microphone than the one in my AirPods, though, because apparently I sound funny. I mean, I do own a USB-microphone from my podcasting days, I could use that.
Then I finally started writing this post, watched some C-drama after all, did my foot exercises and went to bed.
Today is supposed to be completely free, we’ll see how that goes. I’d like to get some writing and publishing stuff done but there is also a part of me that wants to sew a t-shirt, leggings and a sun hat. Let’s see who wins.
