Phew.
I had set my alarm a little alter again and had another slow morning but without my phone this time. I couldn’t bring myself to write again but did the rest of the morning routine. And had breakfast with my husband where we talked a bit about students and playing guitar and piano. I knitted a little as well.
I was starting to run out of orange yarn for my striped sweater which was puzzling. I had thought I’d get farther with the yarn I had. I opened the bag with the rest of the yarn for the project and suddenly realized there were four colors of yarn in the bag, not three.

Well. On the left is the cardigan that I am knitting on. On the right is the gauge swatch I did. Apart from a different shade of orange the main difference between the two is that there is olive yarn in the swatch but not in the cardigan.
Now, what to do? Continue knitting with just the three colors and order more yarn? (And use the olive yarn for something else) Or rip most of it back and make broad stripes of orange, pink and green?
Well. The four colors have the advantage that the sweater would be toned down a bit and I could wear it with more things. Like my olive green tee. And I would have enough yarn already. The disadvantage would be that I would have to rip back and re-knit most of what I did before and also – I had already woven in all the ends and snipped them. Not impossible but fiddly and irritating.
I asked several people about it, two friends over text, my husband and my son. In explaining the dilemma I started to think ripping back was the right choice. Interestingly, everybody else thought I should just continue as is and order more yarn. For very different reasons. One, the work I had already put into the project. Two, I could always use the green yarn for something else. Three, my friend in India told me she loves the combo of hot pink and orange, it’s her favorite (mine as well). Four, both my husband and son said that usually they’d prefer the green and something more muted but the three colors are just working together?
So I guess I’ll order more yarn.
Oh, and speaking of ordering things, I was also looking briefly at eReaders because mine didn’t charge to more than 88%. I tried letting it charge overnight, and I restarted it at least half a dozen times. Next up I’m letting the battery run down to empty and recharge again. And yes, I did try different cables, chargers and wall outlets.
Still, with all of that occupying my mind I did manage to open the manuscript after breakfast and write some words. I finished a scene and thought I was almost done with the book, only a few things to tidy up the story.
Then I started cleaning the house, and hurray, I even managed to finish the cleaning before lunch. Score!
But while walking around cleaning I also was thinking a lot and realized that something else needs to happen in the story before the scene I started yesterday morning. There needs to be a complication of sorts so the ending isn’t too easy. Which made me very motivated to continue writing.
Lunch was determined by the garden again. So many zucchini blossoms:

Not the most inspiring meal but my husband changed the filling for the zucchini blossoms a little and they were pretty good.
I took a short break after starting a load of laundry and then started teaching. I taught all afternoon, then had another very short break before doing bodyweight training with the boy.
I finally had dinner, started writing this post, did Duolingo and my foot exercises, spun while watching TV and went to bed.
And now the weekend!
