I woke up from my alarm and promptly dosed off again, then pulled out my phone and started scrolling. And yes, the morning did not get exactly as I had hoped.
I wrote morning pages, couldn’t bring myself to open the manuscript, did yoga and meditated.
Husband and I had breakfast together and talked a bit. We’re both somewhat exhausted and ready for summer break to begin.
I wove all the ends in on the cardigan-in-progress. Well, all the ends there were so far. I decided to tackle them on an ongoing basis so I wouldn’t get overwhelmed later.
I did dishes. I rode my bike through the rain to the supermarket. Biking through the rain while wearing glasses is always so much fun, they are full of raindrops on the outside and fog up on the inside.
I bought lots and lots of groceries but forgot mustard. In my defense it was in the wrong spot on the grocery list. It was under ‚canned goods‘ instead of ‚mayonnaise, mustard, sauces‘ and I forgot while navigating narrow isles and debating whether to buy frozen blueberries or not. (I just bought some the week before but they are the wrong kind that I don’t like as much, hence the debate.)
I rode back in the rain and was right on time for lunch. My husband helped me pack the groceries away and then there was mangold risotto:

First time eating mangold from our garden this year, the other two times my mother-in-law was faster to claim it.
I had a bit of a break but did not manage to do the dishes before teaching. Lots of nice students, the last one canceled and I used that time to play the piano. After talking to several students about how to practice and how to navigate the keys by touch I thought I should practice what I preach.
Then there was dinner, reading, finding that my eReader was acting up and had been stuck at 87% charge while plugged in since lunchtime. I restarted, changed chargers, cables and outlets and decided to leave it plugged in over night. I would be rather sad if the device was broken after just four years. I mean, I have an old Kindle keyboard that still works well and I bought that back in the days when you had to order them from the US. That one is rather slow by now, though, and I did change the battery myself. I’ll see how this goes in the long run. I just looked and there isn’t even a Kindle Oasis model anymore. I’ve heard the new Colorsoft is awful so it might eventually come down to me unearthing my old Paperwhite, either the one the boy isn’t using or the one my husband isn’t using.
After finishing that research I was again late wit everything but unwilling to give up, so I did the dishes anyway and tried to at least ply a few meters of yarn.
And today there will be the weekly cleaning and some laundry, hopefully more writing than yesterday and then the weekend.
