I started the day by oversleeping for an hour. This might also have been one of only two nights all month that I got enough sleep.
Since I was late I skipped the morning routine completely. Had breakfast with my husband, we talked a bit, I knitted the cardigan’s buttonband up to the point where I need to figure out where to put the buttonholes and then I called my mother on the phone. We told each other about our respective weeks, then I did half the dishes, helped very little with making lunch and folded all the laundry.
When packing away my t-shirts I found for the hundredth time that I had more t-shirts than space in my closet and pulled out all the ones that are too small at the moment. Voilà! The rest fit, there is even space for more. I totally should do that for all the clothes. I also started a load of wool things and when I noticed the boy’s new shirt hanging on a door in the living room not only did I figure out that it hung there because I didn’t have a hanger for it in the closet but also I remembered there are empty hangers in the basement so I took some upstairs. I did not get as far as cleaning them but it’s a start.
There was lunch and it was on time. I’m shocked that I forgot to take a picture, so imagine fish, potatoes, peas and carrots.
I took a break after that but not for too long and talked a bit with the boy. My plan was to spend the afternoon either sewing, or working on publishing tasks or writing.
Well.
Instead I did the dishes (I am now all caught up on the classical music every day list), talked with my husband twice, folded more laundry, changed the BRITA filter, refilled the water in the piano, prepped for the evening’s Zoom, helped my husband get his photos from his phone to his computer, planned the week, thought about motivation, read, did bodyweight training with the boy, ate dinner and then went on a small group coaching call for ninety minutes.
I keep being surprised that it’s summer break in the US and everything right now is very sparsely populated. This time there were only two of us and the coach instead of the usual six to right people.
After that I tried setting up a new email address for me on our teaching website (and failed), then squeezed some Duolingo in ten minutes before the weekly league deadline, started writing this post, made a list for today, read a little bed and turned out the light.
Today teaching starts again and I’m really hoping for a more structured and productive week.
