I’m just writing this quickly between three other things.
So I went to the ENT doctor, did all the audiometry and the result was that, yes, there are some frequencies I can’t hear in my left ear and, yes, there is some hearing loss but all in all I’m doing very well, I understand speech very well and my test was better than the one in January. Seems not being in a panic helps with auditory processing, who knew.
I went back home via two grocery stores (yogurt and chocolate, of course), opened the manuscript and did the things I usually do right after breakfast. Lunch was spaghetti bolognese because of leftover fried ground beef and I helped with the salad. (Sadly, no ALT-text today.)
After that I talked to the boy at length until it was time for teaching. I had three students cancel and two of them decided to show up together, so I had a rather light teaching day. I still had no energy so I didn’t use my time as wisely as I would have liked but I did make progress on that WordPress theme course.
After my last student the boy and I met for bodyweight training. Because of one more exam of his we need to re-arrange the schedule so we did the long training session yesterday again. Then we talked some more and a little later he came downstairs to tell me that he had failed the exam he had written on Monday. Again. (That was the one that was annulled, held again and this time was the repeat exam.) He did feel a little better in realizing that 85% of students had failed, half of which had sat the exam for the first (real) time this semester so no bias towards failure and also one only needed 12 of 55 points to pass. Yet in over a hundred people only two had done well, most who had passed had done so with barely a margin and 85% failed.
The problem is that this means the boy will have to study for two more semesters. The good thing is that he can do so. Hopefully. And now we all cross our fingers that he’ll get a nicer lecturer the next time.
After that I was very determined to go to bed on time, somehow still missed the right point in time and ended up going to bed an hour late.
And now I have to run, ttyl.
