So, as I said, the morning was mostly a bust, I was just too tired. And on top of that a writer friend asked me what I had planned for publishing tasks for the rest of the week. Um…
I decided to tell my subconscious to give me a blurb for book 1 until today, maybe also one for book 2 so I can order covers tomorrow. This might actually work.
I did the dishes listening to Pavarotti singing „La flour queen tu m’avail jeteé“ from Carmen. That was the first time I heard someone sing French with an Italian accent. At least I thought that was what I was hearing. Wild.
I biked to the supermarket and bought all the things including some pastries and two pints of ice cream. I am very proud that I did not buy gummy bears or potato chips or crackers or chocolate, so I’m taking that as a win.
Came back home to the house smelling of melanzane alla parmigiana:
My husband had been planning this for at least a week while he was checking his eggplants daily. I know the food doesn’t look like much and it was a bit mushy but the taste was great. The tomatoes and herbs in there are also all from our yard.
For this special meal my husband had opened a bottle of wine that his wine-loving friend had given him. I was curious, so I tried a small glass (glass not pictured):
We actually ate as a family and there were no arguments. Husband was pretty talkative, though, and told the story how and where he had eaten the dish for the first time. Then the boy and I ate our pastries:
After that I actually took a break of normal length, got a text from the friend I had contacted in the morning about meeting up, looked up trains, decided that I really, really don’t want to spend 11 hours on trains in one day, especially when that involves changing trains 8 times in total. Talked with my husband about spending 90 Euros on train tickets for just one day and booked tickets for Monday.
My friend has just moved to a new place near Würzburg. The plan is to leave here in the morning, take the high speed train from Munich to Würzburg and back and return late in the evening. This connection only requires changing trains four times that day which is much better.
I originally had planned to use my Deutschlandticket but that does not include high speed trains.
By then I only had an hour left until my first student, so I did the dishes, took a shower and had to hurry to make it in time. Teaching was nice, afterwards I made myself a grilled cheese sandwich:
I finally finished „The Pairing“. I found the food and drink and travel parts very inspirational, otherwise I had the feeling the whole thing went by pretty slow. I can’t put my finger on a reason why. I liked the characters, the story was charming, the steamy scenes were steamy and varied. Though I have to say those kinds of scenes often drag on for me. Just like fighting scenes I often find them slightly boring. Telling the first half of the story through one character’s eyes and the second through the other one’s was, again, not a bad idea but I would have liked seeing the other’s perspective as well. I went into the book expecting gay romance, so that threw me a bit as well. Anyways, I did like the book but will probably not reread it.
After eating and playing on my iPad for too long I actually made myself do 20 minutes of strength training and my foot exercises, I did Duolingo, started writing this post and talked briefly with the boy. I made a list for today and watched half an episode of K-drama before going to bed.
Today there will be a bike ride to the beer garden. Probably. And some cleaning.
