Apparently I’ve reached the portion of summer break where I don’t know what day of the week it is. Point in case: I started this post by writing Monday on top instead of Tuesday.
That can get a little awkward, especially when you have a teaching day and forget about it. Which I didn’t, by the way.
So. I went to bed at 12.30 after two beers, overslept and thought to myself I could always write morning pages and do yoga later in the day. Dear Reader, she did not do those things later in the day. I know, shocking.
I made breakfast, almost forgot to take my thyroid hormones, again, did not quite wait long enough before having breakfast, again, and talked to my husband. I also knitted a bit.
Since I had woken up to yet another email telling me to pay for the shoes I returned at the end of June, or else, I did spend an hour or so in a chat with someone with a decidedly Indian name, explaining that I returned the shoes, that the shop received them but initially forgot to log the return and that when they tried correcting that mistake they couldn’t and the company that hosts the online shop they are using never responded to any of us.
„So you returned the goods and are waiting for your refund?”
„No, I never paid anything. I’d also like to stop getting angry emails about owing you money, please. Because I don’t.”
On and on and round and round and they kept telling me I should contact the company that doesn’t respond. Fun!
After an hour they told me they paused their claim and will investigate.
So we’ll see.
Meanwhile my husband was a little miffed because he wanted me to help with making salad but I couldn’t because I didn’t want to end the chat. That would have meant starting over from scratch at a later point.
So lunch was late:
The tomato sauce was made from fresh tomatoes from our yard and everything in the salad was grown by my husband as well. The arugula in particular must have been super frustrating, you have these tiny leaves and have to examine each one individually.
The boy showed up after we were already done with eating and talked at me about Warhammer figurines.
Then time just stopped existing for 2 1/2 hours until I remembered that not only did I have to teach at 5, but also taking a shower was overdue. That got me going fast.
I taught two students, both very nice, and afterwards I decided to play a couple of Norah Jones songs. My piano student is playing „Come away with me“ and „Don’t know why“ and so I played those two and „One flight down“ and „Turn me on“ (badly) and „The nearness of you“.
When I was done the boy was already waiting and my husband was standing in front of my door asking me if that was actually me playing. Um, yeah? I have the sheet music? And these days I’m apparently better at reading it.
By then I was really hungry. I got told the last bun was mine and to please eat more of the salami before it goes bad. There went my plan of making myself a grilled cheese sandwich. Tomorrow, though.
Then the boy needed me to plan what and how to cook for later today when his friend comes over. He wants to make Japanese food. Which means there will be shopping for Japanese ingredients later.
I ate while talking and making plans and grocery lists and debating how to write 带. Because he wrote down all the ingredients in English, Japanese and Chineses. Or Korean. Because we’re going to the Asian grocery store. Only later did I figure out that he doesn’t know everything is labeled in English or German anyway.
I did the dishes for a third time that day, started writing this post, got interrupted by my husband who had a problem with a device not charging that I could quickly solve by giving him a stronger charger and then I made myself a cup of tea, wrote in my bullet journal, did Duolingo, watched some K-drama while knitting and went to bed.
Today is shaping up to be slightly insane already. But who knows, maybe I’ll get around to exercising today.
