There’s always a but, isn’t there?
I only slept for six hours or so, do not recommend. Since I set a screen time limit for social media and games I now know that I spent more than 45 minutes on social media before breakfast. Guess we know why I did not do my morning routine. I really should get back to yoga soon.
I was pretty foggy, too, I forgot my thyroid medication first thing, put the berries for my husband’s muesli in the wrong bowl and was rather unfocused.
And then I spent about two hours making pasta:
It was my first time making trofie. They are the traditional pasta shape to eat with pesto, my husband had lots and lots of basil so there we were. While I was mixing the dough, forming it into rolls „as thick as your pinkie“ (really? I have a very small pinkie so I decided to make them a little thicker), cutting 1 cm pieces off, forming those into rolls (about 5 mm thick, now we are talking) and then making a pressing/slashing movement with the edge of my hand to give them their spiral shape.
I did get better and faster with practice. Things I would do different next time include starting the dough earlier so that I can actually let it rest (I forgot again) and make the pasta thinner and shorter.
Meanwhile my husband was busy roasting pine nuts, picking basil, washing and chopping it (with the rocking knife that has only one handle left since Saturday) until he complained about shoulder pain.
I on the other hand started out fine but have to say that two hours of making trofie left me with very sore fingers. So, not recommended for arthritic hands.
They tasted super delicious, though:
As I said, extremely delicious.
Then I took a short break, took a shower and gave myself a pedicure until it was time to start teaching. Three students later I was happy but rather hungry.
I ate dinner, fell down another internet rabbit hole, tried mustering the strength to move to the sewing machine but gave up.
So. Today is the day I do all the packing. Some more teaching as well.
