I had turned the lights out at midnight, slept well, woke up from the alarm and did my complete morning routine. Yeah! I was very determined to do all kinds of things but first my husband got read to leave the house at 9. So I did a bit of reading and no knitting.
I also had to leave the house but only two hours later for my eye doctor appointment. That was interesting. I had expected to talk about cataract surgery, my eyes are getting worse and since I was told at the last visit to just give the word when I wanted to I thought I’d get looked at, say that I want surgery and that would be that.
I didn’t have to wait at all, had my vision check, agreed to have my intraocular pressure checked for the small fee of 20 euros, then saw the doctor who asked if I’d like an extra retina check as well. Now, normally I don’t ever agree to anything that’s not covered by insurance but we were talking eyes here and last year I briefly thought there were problems with my retina so I agreed to that test as well for 95 euros. That test, by the way, was the only one I was asked to remove my mask for.
Yes, I still wear masks because, yes, people are getting covid right and left at the moment.
Anyway, I had that retina test done, went back to see the doctor and she was like, well, we thought this was just a case of cataracts but, well, you have this epiretinal membrane and should consider surgery for that and the cataracts. She also said, „Since you still have 60% vision in your left eye I would just leave that alone for now.”
And that would be my good eye now. The one that has always been the weak one.
I got a referral to the eye surgery clinic and sent an email to make an appointment and now we’ll wait.
On my way back home I sent the boy a text to start the oven for frozen pizza:
After the boy and I talked a bit, then my husband came back home and we talked some more, then I sat around eating chocolate and looking at screens, then I was about to get up and finally do the dishes but someone wanted to talk with me again, then I did the dishes, took another break and finished reading the new Ilona Andrews and was actually about to finally start doing something publishing related or maybe sewing related when the boy asked if he could explain this to me:
So I acted as a slightly more responsive rubber ducky to help my son think through quantum mechanics. It turned out there was something missing here and also there is a mistake. As far as I know. And I learned that all of those letter don#t work like letters usually do in math because they are not number but, um, something else. Whatever. Quantum.
By then it was time for dinner so I ate, talked with my husband a bit and then sat there talking with the boy again over his dinner. And all of a sudden it was 9 pm. Too late to start anything productive.
So I watched some C-drama and did some Duolingo and knitted a bit and ate some crackers and went to bed. No bodyweight training, no proofreading and no sewing. Maybe today.
