I woke up before the alarm and felt great. Then I pulled out my phone and dived into online content right away. No morning routine. No exercise, no revision and not much else.
I did walk to the health food store which meant first time out of the house since Friday. I thought a lot about enthusiasm and the new year, goals, plans and the year behind. My husband made pasta e fagioli which was delicious. There’s a reason that’s one of our most favorite meals:
Oh, and since my husband is still coughing a lot we did another covid test each:
I’m also planning to do another one tomorrow or Friday because we met so many people on Monday.
After lunch I started another round of sitting and waiting. First, I took a break, which was nice. Then I thought about asking my husband if he had taken his shower yet while reading a chat online. Then time passed, apparently, every time I thought about getting up and doing something my husband showed up to talk to me which meant I was sitting a little longer. Eventually I actually did the lunch dishes. I took the old 2010 laptop that my husband had brought me at breakfast saying that had gotten loud and hot some time and that he had been worried the laptop would start burning so he put it outside in the cold. I think my husband thought that unplugging the laptop meant it was turned off but I don’t know.
When I tried turning it on it did nothing but when I plugged it back in later it started, everything was fine. It might have been overheating because there was stuff piled on top of it while it was on stand-by. Note to self: turn that laptop off even if it takes ages to power up. And then I remembered that I had turned it on at some point to look for older pictures of my father because we had been trying to find a nice one. When I transferred to a new computer I only took some of the pictures with me because the new computer only had half the disk space.
I was just about to finally take a shower when my husband showed up and made himself dinner so I ate dinner as well, started writing this post, read a bit more of „How Writers fail“ by Kristine Kathryn Rusch, eventually took the shower I had been dreading for days, watched some C-drama, did Duolingo and went to bed.
Today and tomorrow will be, um, interesting, my husband’s friends will show up later today for making music. They’ll stay overnight and that will throw me off for the rest of the year, probably. And then we’ll have more house guests next week. Fun times!
