I went to bed somewhat late but not way too late the night before, slept well and then woke up at 5.40 unable to fall back asleep. No worries, I’d just read a bit before doing my morning routine. I then picked up my phone … and the rest is history.
No morning routine, barely anything got done all day. I’m never quite sure if picking up the phone is what derails the day or if it starts with me feeling off and therefore I pick up the phone. Anyways.
I had high hopes of getting back on track after breakfast but then my husband asked me to cut his hair – which was way overdue – at ten which of course meant I couldn’t do anything else until 10. Of course. Hair got cut, I barely managed to do the breakfast dishes and then I basically gave up on the day. Instead of journaling, yoga, taking a shower and doing laundry I instead sat around feeling meh until it was time to order takeout for lunch. There were spring rolls:
In the picture you can also see the new reusable takeout containers the restaurant is using. I really love that we can order takeout without all that styrofoam trash. Remembering the containers and washing them is a bit of a hassle but still, it makes me happy.
And here’s my usual fried noodles with chicken:
After lunch I had planned to finally take my shower but then realized I had run out of time. Ugh. I’m still not used to Wednesday without running even after all these months.
Also in the morning I started reading yet another Cat Sebastian book. I think there are only three or so left of hers before I run out. My husband talked to me about reading so much (he feels it means I don’t want to confront ‘real life’) and asked me when I’ll have read all the books in the world which led to me looking at my ebook reader to find that I have, um, 458 unread fiction books and 119 unread non-fiction books on there. So, if my plan was to read all of them it would take me about four years. Fortunately, a lot of those unread books are freebies that I never planned to read or books that I bought intending to read them but then my reading preferences changed. A few are ones that I’ll never finish because I didn’t like them. Which means I should go through the folders and move things around. Like my ‘currently reading’ folder has 69 books in it and I know for certain I won’t even want to read all of those. I did start re-organizing my ebooks but didn’t get far. I guess it’s time to make a ‘DNF’- and a ‘on hold’-folder, I guess.
Then I taught a few students including a rather nice potential new one, hung up the load of laundry I had started in the morning that had sat around all afternoon, started a second load, sat around for a while, complained to my husband until he did the dishes which meant I could neither start the blog post, nor take my shower, so I dried while he did the washing up, then I finally took my shower while my beer got cool in the fridge, I watched some C-drama and turned the lights out.
I’m hoping for a better day today which is pretty likely because I need to bike to the supermarket and teach more students and such. I usually do better when I have less unstructured time.
At least my voice is doing much better. Not quite good enough to teach singing today but maybe tomorrow.
