Sunday, April 5: Sometimes a day can be both lazy and productive

April 6, 2020 by Susanne Leave a Comment

I woke up before six, lazed a bit in bed, meditated and then spent half an hour online before making breakfast. After I finished breakfast my husband showed up and then the boy on time, we did our short daily meeting and then I researched how to set up properly for teaching electric guitar online. My husband hasn’t been completely happy with his setup.

There were conversations and dishes and then some Sunday yoga:

I helped to make lunch and read a bit in „Tangled Truths“ in between. Also got the ironing board out and ironed the face mask in progress. Lunch was very good:

After that I did the dishes right away and then wandered off to Ravelry, read a bit and then sat down to watch the third part of that sleeve workshop while sewing the mask. I got it almost finished:

In between I helped my husband order garden supplies online and planned the upcoming week.

Then the boy and I watched some Star Trek while I knitted and spun, I started writing this post, then hung around not doing anything really for a bit too long and went to bed

So. Today there will be running, some teaching, some helping my husband with his teaching setup and a Facebook live for the Growing Gills book club.

Saturday, April 4: Not too bad and an oops

April 5, 2020 by Susanne Leave a Comment

I woke up before six and did my morning routine slowly. Did not get around to writing in the morning, though.

There was breakfast and just when I thought I’d read for another ten minutes before starting to write my husband showed up. Conversations were had. We decided to go on our respective runs early so that there would be less people out. And it worked. But. The boy was late and didn’t get downstairs before my husband and I left.

Before then my morning had been rather leisurely:

IMG 1068

I had big plans for the day but first there was running and walking:

IMG 1069

The halfway point.IMG 1072

Random parts with trees.

IMG 1070

I ran and walked for 80 minutes in total, 5 minutes each of warm-up and cool-down with intervals of 3 minutes of running and 2 minutes of walking. I did 9.51 kilometers and that was rather fast for me. Back home there was a bit of nothing and then I took a shower and gave myself a m much-needed pedicure and helped to make lunch:

IMG 1073

I had a hard time to get going again after lunch and mostly read and did online jigsaw puzzles. I did do the dishes on time, though. I’d say that earns me some bonus points. I also watched a bit of the lecture on plot I got.

And then I got my own email about the new podcast episode – a day too late. Seems I put the wrong date on the scheduled post. Oops.

At four I met my husband again and we looked at the greenhouse that had suffered from that hail last year and some more storms and such. My husband worked on getting the roof panels back up while I figured out how to repair the sliding door. I’m happy to report that the sliding door is back where it belongs and is actually sliding open and closed.

Then more puzzles. No writing. Bad author.

At six I met the boy for a movie palooza, okay, just one movie. We watched „Isn’t it romantic“ while eating potato chips and ice cream. Somehow my husband did not want to join us. And then we added an episode of the animated Star Trek series that was written by Walter Koenig. Which I spent spinning.

Then it definitely felt too late for writing, I started writing this post, pulled out my bullet journal and got ready for bed.

Today there will be all kinds of things, sewing and knitting and writing and spinning and some more Star Trek. I decided not to record a podcast episode today, I really want a day off. And then another one and another one but I don’t think I’ll get those.

Friday, April 3: And the wifi timer worked

April 4, 2020 by Susanne 2 Comments

I woke up at 5.34, spent a little more time in bed and got up at six. I did not go online then because of that pesky timer I put on the wifi. Funny, how that was the first day I did my complete morning routine and wrote 700 words.

Then I spent some time getting the podcast up and communicating with students. I started doing the breakfast dishes early enough for a change and actually managed to do all of the weekly cleaning in time for helping to make lunch. Which was delicious pizza:

IMG 1067

We sacrificed one of our precious packets of dry yeast for this. Since I need the others for making Hefezopf for Easter there won’t be pizza until there is again yeast in the stores. I have to say I was very happy to have bought dry yeast for emergencies. Usually I buy it fresh and we always have it in the fridge but there is none to be had at the moment. I know, first world problems. Maybe I’ll pull out my bread baking book and try my hand at sourdough. I’ve never done it before but I think I might have some rye flour around somewhere.

After lunch I did the dishes right away without taking a break and then I prepared my ukulele lesson of the day and told the world about the podcast episode being out. Then I taught four students over video chat. In between I scanned sheet music with notes so the students would know where to put the circles and fingerings and wrote more emails.

After my last student I had planned to do strength training but by then I didn’t really have any energy left. So I just did ten pushups with my hands on the kitchen counter and ten squats and called it good.

The boy and I watched a really good episode of Voyager and another one of the animated series that would have been good if it hadn’t been so sexist.

Then I spent too much time reading twitter, started writing this post and went to bed about an hour too late.

Today there will be more writing (I hope), a longer run/walk, prep for the next podcast episode, some online learning (I want to watch the third part of the sleeve workshop and a bit of the course on Affinity Photo.), some sewing, some knitting and some spinning.

The big plan for the evening is to watch „Isn’t it romantic?“ with the boy.I thought something funny would be a good idea but we both reserve the right to switch to something else if we don’t like it. It has been ages since I watched anything not-scifi so we’ll see. Part of me just wants to play it safe and rewatch „Ghost Busters“ or „Back to the Future“. We’ll see.

I texted the student who wanted an in-person lesson next Tuesday and canceled. I did offer her video lessons but she remains disinterested.

So, how are you guys holding up?

Thursday, April 2: Let’s just say that I am putting a timer on the wifi again

April 3, 2020 by Susanne Leave a Comment

Woke up at 5.34, meditated for five minutes, wandered over to the internet – the end.

At least mostly.

I did go to the supermarket (wearing a mask inside) and bought all the fruit for my mother-in-law, then there was pea soup for lunch:

IMG 1066

This might have been the first time ever that my husband ate this. Which is weird to me because pea soup was a staple growing up.

Then I took a short break after which I taught some students and wrote some email and thought about the next day’s lessons. I tried the new connector for hooking up my USB mic to the iPad and it works. And since I have such a hard time being productive in the mornings I put a timer on the wifi again. No connecting to the internet with wireless between midnight and seven in the morning. If it had gone as I wanted the starting time would have been ten at night but the boy vetoed that.

I ate dinner with the rest of the family, we did the big pile of dishes together, I started writing this post, got the podcast mostly ready to be published later today, did a jigsaw puzzle online, read a bit and turned off the lights.

Today there will be the weekly cleaning, homemade pizza, more teaching and then some Star Trek, I think. For the weekend my plans include junk food, watching a movie and crafting.

Wednesday, April 1: Regular Wednesday with added motivation

April 2, 2020 by Susanne Leave a Comment

That day (and today) was so full that I won’t even write a blog post, sorry.

Only five hours of sleep, quite a bit of teaching, quite a bit of planning for April, quite a bit of helping my husband and the boy. A short run. Lunch that I didn’t take a picture of. Here are a couple of pictures:
