On the other hand, who am I trying to fool here, my whole life is an ongoing experiment. I’ll just try out changing things about my blogging process until I hit one that works. As in life.
So yesterday was not quite as good as I had hoped. I was very determined to do everything really, really early and make use of the fact that I didn’t have as many students as usual so I would have all that time to do all the things, specifically novel revision.
Well. I did wake up at 7 and only dawdled a bit so I could squeeze the complete morning routine in. Which is always good because the journaling, yoga, meditation and taking my blood pressure before breakfast is very good for me. Then I did even put the granny square-in-progress aside without finishing the last round so I could get started on the day early as well. I did a covid test (which was negative), I checked Ravelry, wrote my blog post and this time the blog became unresponsive just because I refreshed the posts from inside the blogging software. Um.
I spent half an hour trying to wrangle everything into submission and had to stop because I ran out of time. So no Duolingo in the morning, no novel revision, nothing. The plan had been to do the dishes first and then work on the novel so that the kitchen would be ready for my husband to cook but it turns out that by the time the dishes were done and I was sitting in front of my computer in my studio all hungry I couldn’t focus on noveling anymore.
No problem. I could just use the time between teaching and dinner. Because I only was teaching until 5.
Lunch was delicious, by the way, exactly the kind of food that I had wanted to eat:
I even did the dishes right away and took a bit of a break before teaching.
My last student canceled but instead of exercising or revising or taking a shower I sat down to play a couple of Tori Amos songs at the piano instead. I’m regretting nothing, I haven’t played the piano in a while and since I mostly play the cheap keyboard during lessons because the students get to play the piano I find that I have to take care not to let the joy get sucked out of playing.
Then I sat down in front of the computer and looked at some of the issues on the back end of the blog. It’s been years since I installed or changed anything and I don’t even remember how to do that stuff. I think I have repaired the most glaring things but who knows.
I’m actually writing this post the evening before so that I have more time to get stuff done tomorrow morning. The plan is to go to the doctor to renew a prescription and finally get my flu shot and then do the weekly supermarket run.
So we’ll see how this works. I’ll tell you tomorrow.
