I’m longing to get my brain back but it seems to have gone to sleep right now. Which is what I should actually do more.
I woke up at 5.30 and dawdled. Had breakfast on time, though, had a great conversation with my husband and found that it is time to start the edging on the shawl I’m knitting. It’s one of those where you weigh the rest of the yarn to determine when to start the next section.
Then I had to scramble so I could take a shower and leave the house in time for my gynecologist appointment.
Leaving the house and stepping on a train felt totally surreal to me. There weren’t many people out and on my way there it was easy to keep my distance. I did get admonished by a bus driver because I had used the front door on the bus. I didn’t know you were supposed to stay away from that.
The doctor’s office wasn’t much different than before. I had a nice talk with his assistant who is a former student of mine. She asked me all kinds of questions about our online teaching because she knows another piano teacher who has no income whatsoever at the moment. Also, no wifi and is ‚lacking the equipment needed for teaching online‘.
I hadn’t even though about that. I thought that almost everybody has a smartphone, a tablet or a computer these days. I bet she does have email and a desktop. I also bet she could probably have borrowed something from someone or upgraded her old computer with a webcam. Not that she is doing something wrong, it just shows that my mind always goes straight into problem solving mode.
The doctor thinks it is a yeast infection after all. Since what I did before didn’t seem to work I got some pills.
On the return journey everything was starting to get just a little more crowded. Still, I managed to keep my distance most of the time. Also figured out that my main gripe with wearing a mask is the way it makes my glasses fog up and/or wiggle around on my nose. Nothing is ever in focus. These progressives need to sit just so in order to work properly. I should try it out with my contacts. Only then I can’t read anything.
At home my husband had taken care of all the accumulated dishes and had started to make lunch:
Chili and rice. I did help a little.
Afterwards I didn’t have much time left before I had to start teaching for the day. In between students I went back to the pharmacy because of the two prescriptions I was filling only one was in stock. This is why I usually pick the pharmacy that is nearest to my house even if I like another one better.
Then I had a student call in sick for an online lesson for the first time ever. Wrote some e-mails regarding next week’s lessons, and then watched some Star Trek with the boy.
I read a bit and waited for the boy to finish taking his shower so I could do the dishes. Went to bed too late yet again. Cleaning will have to happen some time over the weekend. Also, the podcast is still not published. This is getting ridiculous. I mean the podcast. I don’t think I have ever needed so much time to get a podcast ready. I guess my new setup for podcasting is a bust. I will return to the old one.
Today there will be running and knitting and reading and thinking. No idea what else.
