Daily Journal – Day 664: The reason for the paralysis

July 9, 2019 by Susanne 1 Comment

Well, at least one of them. After a lazy morning I decided that my knee was bothering me enough to make a doctor’s appointment. The one who was free on short notice is of course the one who has really awful reviews online. I have been to him before, though, and so far he his bedside manner hasn’t bothered me, so we’ll see. On Wednesday.

I thought that I would have a lot of time in the morning but my plans got changed when I used the last piece of banana for my muesli. I went erranding instead. Tea shop, bakery and health food store. We’re all stocked up on bananas, minced meat and bread again but sadly I couldn’t get loose mint tea.

I love my tea shop but they drive me crazy with their use of apostrophes:

This is a plural. Plurals don’t have an apostrophe. I had the same discussion with the tea shop owner years ago. That time she insisted that this was the old spelling, not the new one. (No apostrophes in plurals in either, of course.) I emphatically insisted that no, I was right, old spelling and new. This time there was a new sales person in the shop who told me that she doesn’t have anything to do with this, it’s all the owner’s domain. I never said she had. I just couldn’t help saying that they had a typo on their sign outside. „Time for ice tea“ alone would have been a great slogan for the weather, no idea why they had to add that S. I mean, yes, they probably want you to buy all the tea or even several teas but – really?)

But, as I said and grammar aside, the tea shop is really excellent with great friendly service.

I helped to make lunch and then took a shower before eating it:

Yummy.

Then I wasted about half an hour before putting on makeup and getting ready to teach. Only to get a voice mail that my first student couldn’t make it. So I watched a little bike riding while spinning sweater yarn:

Because of the knee I decided to start the last third of the fiber on the spindle. This will be a first, I have always used either the spinning wheel or the spindle for a project from start to finish but this time I thought I#d do different. It will be interesting to see if I can stay consistent or not.

Then I taught all the students.

Meanwhile my husband had done the dishes and had tried taking the ceiling panel off the underside of the balcony. You know, the one where water is dripping on the porch right next to the electric wires. He came to ask me to help as well because when he tried with the boy’s help they had stopped because they weren’t sure what would come down with the panel.

We were all pretty relieved when the panel came down and it all looked like this:

So there weren’t hundreds of liters of water waiting to pour down on us, the lamps were never wet (phew!) and the reason for the dripping was that the drainpipe was broken. My husband still had to drill through a screw and we were standing there, panel on our backs and hands while we figured out how to disconnect the lamp but still. Phew.

Then I finally finished my planning for Q3 and did my Kanban board:

Very lofty goals, these, which means I need to get my butt in gear.

I did try to write afterwards with not the best success. Seems Camp NaNoWriMo isn’t motivating me much. I will do better in the future because now I have all these motivating post-its.

Today there will be more of the usual. No errands which is good. No exercise either which is less good. I’ll probably spend most of the day being anxious about the doctor’s visit tomorrow.

Ich drück dir Daumen. Hoffentlich ist nix Schlimmes mit dem Knie los…

Hihi, und ich würde den Shop owner das auch jedes Mal unter die Nase reiben. Bis es ordentlich geändert ist. ?
